Kerry Mitchell, Secretary

Kerry-Mitchell-bio-photoOriginally from Long Island, New York, Kerry grew up visiting historic sites and museums with her family which instilled her love of history and historic sites. Attending the University of Mary Washington for undergrad began her love for Virginia. After finding a part-time job at Rippon Lodge in Woodbridge, moving back to Long Island was a thing of the past.

Since many of the historic sites Kerry visited have gardens, she has always had a deep appreciation for them. Her own garden experience comes from helping her parents with their flower and vegetable gardens. Her apartment garden consists mainly of basil, tomatoes, and whatever plant fellow FROGS board member Becky Super hands her in the spring. One day she would love to have a little more space to grow more flowers and vegetables.

Kerry currently is the Curator & Programs Manager at Carlyle House Historic Site in Alexandria where she gets to enjoy the fantastic gardens every day. Kerry is also a board member on the Historic House Museums Consortium of Washington DC of which both Carlyle House and Green Spring Gardens are members.

Kerry currently serves as Secretary for Friends of Green Spring.
