Manager's Message
by Michael McDonnell (FORMER!) Acting Manager, Green Spring Gardens

Historic house, Spring

When Nicole first introduced me to you as Green Spring Gardens’ temporary “acting” manager, there was a good measure of uncertainty and caution out there. Rightly so! However, what never faltered was everyone’s determination not to let me stumble! So, I owe debts of gratitude to all of Green Spring’s paid and volunteer staff, and all the FROGS members. Since the beginning of March I’ve had nothing but gracious help and support, and solid insider tips on how best to manage Green Spring’s extremely complicated functions. In that time, we’ve fully opened the Horticulture Center and transitioned the Historic House to be open on weekends. Programs have never stopped, and Farmer’s Markets also opened up more as we progressed into summer. And, remarkably, this was all done in the safest manner possible. Our safety and that of our public was always the primary goal for my transitional role. This was truly a team effort.

So, thank you all, and I leave you in the more-than-capable hands of Judy Zatsick, who certainly needs less introduction than I did, being a long-time veteran of Green Spring Gardens in many roles! Judy was chosen to lead Green Spring not only for her incredible past experience but for her vision for Green Spring’s future.

I’m confident, from the relatively short time I’ve had to meet and work with everyone who supports Green Spring from the ground up (I can’t help the pun!), that its future is an incredibly bright one!
