Dear Friends,

I hope you are enjoying your fall. The fall blossoms and foliage are always beautiful at Green Spring Gardens. It’s just the place for a walk on a sparkling cool day. Come often to enjoy the changing gardens.

We had a wonderful Family Fall Festival this year. Thanks to you, we can provide significant support to Green Spring Gardens. And we couldn’t have done it without an army of volunteers and a boatload of donations from individuals and businesses. Our grateful thanks to all of you who donated, worked, and came to enjoy the festivities. I can’t list all of the jobs that went into this, but let me mention just a few behind-the-scenes jobs that aren’t as visible. Green Spring Staff and our wonderful volunteers make this happen:

  • For every activity: hundreds of person-hours for planning, set up, and cleanup. This includes the great Green Spring Gardens staff that worked with vendors, activities, shops, auction, tents, water coolers, and thousands of other details.
  • For the Silent Auction: soliciting, collecting, cataloging, promoting, mulch hauling, and setting up all the wonderful items. Then processing the bids and contacting the lucky bidders. Please appreciate the list of donors who made the silent auction possible.
  • For the family activities: planning fun activities, preparing supplies, and hours on the field.
  • For the bake sale: the bakers of course, but also the planning, the beautifully decorated set-up, your servers and sellers, and the kitchen workers who collected, plated, delivered, and cleaned up.
  • And a special shout out to our team of parking volunteers and staff. It’s a hot and unglamorous job, but it helps all our visitors have a wonderful time.

We won’t be having an indoor Gardeners Holiday this year, but come to see the beautifully decorated winter planters that will be on display. Our talented garden staff will be showing off ideas. And we’re still planning to collect and sell greens for your own decorations. We’ll also be launching our annual appeal. You were so generous last year, and you can see the results in all the new plantings and refreshed gardens. We’ll soon let you know what’s planned for 2023.
