FROGS Talk
by Ivy Sinaiko, FROGS President

This will be the last Gardenline article I will write as president of the Friends of Green Spring.  By the time the winter edition comes out, someone else will hold that position.

I have been president during a really unusual time; I hope we never experience another time like this.  However, it has been inspiring to see how both the staff at Green Spring Gardens and the Friends of Green Spring have adjusted during the pandemic.

As I have mentioned before, Green Spring Gardens has become a haven for many people who had not even been aware of it when their lives were less constrained.  In spite of staff shortages, the gardens have looked beautiful, and our members and other contributors have been very generous in their monetary and other donations.

We on the FROGS board have had our share of ups and downs, as is natural for any organization, particularly a volunteer one.  I will always be grateful for the support I have received from FROGS board members, even if we did not always have the same ideas or opinions.  There are a lot of hard workers on the board; and the intelligence, dedication, and organizational abilities they have displayed have never ceased to amaze and humble me.

I will continue to write about interesting people at Green Spring, so you haven’t stopped hearing from me.  I hope you consider this a blessing and not a curse!

P.S. Our Family Fall Festival was a tremendous success. The weather was great, and a good time was had by all, at least from what I could see at my volunteer posts, first as a facilitator at one of the children’s activities and later as a monitor at the silent auction. Thank you to everyone who came out to work or just to enjoy.
