While pursuing a 44 year career as an educator (teacher, specialist, diagnostician, administrator, and college professor), Sherley and her military husband moved to many different states and countries. During her working career, gardening provided relief from the stress of impossible demands and schedules. She retired in 2016 after gardening all over the world and knew she wanted to focus on her passion, gardening. Sherley became a Master Gardener and FROGS member in 2016 and spends as much time as possible in nature.

Sherley’s garden is an American Hemerocallis Display Garden, and there is a daylily, named Sherley Channing. Although there is a focus on daylilies, she loves all perennials. Gardening never fails to fascinate her, whether she gardens in a container or on many acres. It makes her happy!
