FROGS was recognized for 25 years of dedicated and outstanding contributions to the Fairfax County Park Authority and residents of Fairfax County on Wednesday, June 13, at a luncheon with visiting Site Reviewers from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA). Sarah Munroe, FROGS President, accepted the award from FCPA Executive Director Kirk Kincannon. Later that day, Green Spring Gardens hosted a garden tour and dessert reception for the visiting CAPRA review team, Park Authority and Fairfax County officials. The Site Reviewer Team visit is part of the CAPRA reaccreditation process.
CAPRA accredits park and recreation agencies for excellence in operation and service. The Fairfax County Park Authority received its first CAPRA accreditation in 2008 and is one of only 166 such agencies across the country to earn this distinction. Agencies must apply for reaccreditation every 5 years.
