Claire Socash. Photo by Erica Blaine Hello, my name is Claire Socash, and I was one of the 2025 horticulture interns at Green Spring Gardens. I am a senior at the University of Maryland studying Environmental Science with a focus on ecosystem health. I have a passion for gardening at home, so this internship was a chance to learn about different types of gardens and how to maintain them. During my time at Green Spring Gardens, I did a lot of weeding, planting, mulching, watering, and more weeding. I also learned about native plants, propagation, as well as a future in horticulture. This internship has sparked my curiosity about cultivating my own garden more and gave me valuable information to use when doing future gardening … plus, I got to look at pretty flowers every day!
