Friends of Green Spring Supports the Green Spring You Love!
Friends of Green Spring (FROGS) is dedicated solely to the support of Green Spring Gardens, a unique Fairfax County (Virginia) Park Authority site with 31 acres offering a multitude of settings, features, and programs to inspire and educate gardeners, provide a place for quiet contemplation for all, and open a window into the county's cultural past.
Did you know?
- FROGS purchases all plant material planted in the gardens – annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees.
- FROGS supports tree care activities, including trimming and pest treatments.
- FROGS purchases all horticultural supplies used to propagate plants for the gardens, including growing medium, fertilizer, and pots.
- FROGS purchases tools used by the horticulturalists throughout the gardens.
- FROGS supports children’s programs and sponsors visits to the gardens by children from Title I schools.
- FROGS supports adult education programs, including the popular Winter Lecture series.
- FROGS supports tea programs offered in the Historic House.
- FROGS purchases the plants offered for sale in the plant shop and supports its operations.
- FROGS manages annual events of benefit to the public, including the popular Spring Garden Day, Fall Festival, and summer concert.
- FROGS contributes to park improvements through targeted annual appeals, which recently included rejuvenation of the gardens and upgrades to the Historic House.
- FROGS is committed to the construction of an outdoor pavilion and classroom that will offer new opportunities for public gatherings and children’s classes.
- Since 1995, FROGS has contributed over $2.8 million to the programs and operations of Green Spring Gardens!
