Youth and Family Winter Fun
by Bailey Price, Youth and Family Education Coordinator
Youth and Family Education had a wonderful fall season full of learning and fun. We had over a thousand children come through our doors for school field trips! Our family programs were also a success, with our Plant Now, Harvest Later pumpkins lining up in October to go home with the families that started them from seed (pictured below).
The fun doesn’t stop there; this winter we have many different and exciting Family Fun programs to choose from. Want to escape the cold? Register for our Glasshouse Exploration program! Take a tour of our glasshouse on February 18 and learn about the history of these unique buildings while you make your own mini glasshouse to take home. Join us on February 25 for our Sensational Seeds program where you will learn all about seeds and their different shapes, sizes, and unique ways of traveling. On March 11, our Forcing Flowers program will dive into the science behind winter and early spring blooms. Little ones are always welcome at our monthly Garden Sprouts Nature Playgroup (February 13 and March 13) where we explore natural topics through crafts, games, and stories.

Many thanks to our wonderful volunteers Linda Nordstrom and Jeanette Hantke for their dedication to providing fantastic and engaging field trip experiences for hundreds of children in 2022.
We are always looking for more volunteers who would like to help with Y+F programs! Our volunteers are a big part of making quality programs a success at Green Spring Gardens.
