Happy Summer, FROGS! It’s July, the cicadas and the fireflies are out, and so are the FROGS. Please come and see the fabulous riot of summer color at Green Spring Gardens. It changes week to week so come frequently.
One of the reasons it looks so good is all the wonderful volunteers who have come to help. THANK YOU. We’re making good use of the plants we bought through your generous donations to the annual appeal, and we’re refreshing and tidying all the beds. Judy Zatsick will tell you about our new Horticulture Resource Manager, Adam Bucher, who is taking much of this into his capable hands.
I hope many of you were able to come to the Summer Concert with rock band DEMZ. We were blessed with wonderful weather and had a great turnout. Our visitors had fun with the great music, and the kids enjoyed the fun children’s activities, visits with Ribbit, and just jumping around, more or less in time with the music. This is one of the ways we like to give back to the wonderful community of our neighbors and park lovers.
Our next program is our Family Fall Festival on September 17th. You may remember that last year we expanded our Fall Plant Sale by adding a wealth of activities for the whole family. The sale, with great vendors, will of course also go on, and fall is a great time to plant.
An important part of the Festival is the Silent Auction. There will be great treasures to bid on, and every purchase supports Green Spring Gardens. We are accepting donations of your treasures to be auctioned off. Check your attic and garage. Donations with a minimum value of $20 per item are being accepted NOW through September 1st.
