In with the new!
We are delighted to report that we have two new members of the FROGS Board of Directors. Please welcome them when you see them around the gardens.
Patrick Hershman is new to Green Spring Gardens but is looking forward to bringing his multiple talents to a local community. He is an arborist with a degree in agricultural mechanization and community service experience.
Kay Gill is a long-time supporter of Green Spring Gardens as a Master Gardener. In addition to her gardening experience and knowledge of Green Spring Gardens, she is an educator and a lawyer.
Our longtime member Jim Schroeder is moving into emeritus status after 17 years of service. Jim has been the wiz behind the scenes with our financial matters, chairing the Financial Committee, doing our taxes for years, and generally keeping us solvent, accurate, and up to date—not to mention great support to the bake sale, delivering his spouse’s wonderful cookies. Thank you, Jim, and we’ll enjoy still seeing you from time to time.
We also have new fundraising activities. As you know we had to cancel this year’s Fall Festival. There are two factors to the decision. We had a reduction in the number of plant merchants interested in the event, as sales decline in the fall. And our beloved Silent Auction takes thousands of hours over six months. It was too much of a lift this year, literally as well as figuratively. But our team has come up with a number of great ideas. To start out we’ve planned some new events:
1) A series of trivia nights in the gardens
2) Custom photo sittings in the gardens
3) Beautiful holiday decorations for sale.
Explore upcoming events at https://www.friendsofgreenspring.org. There is more to come!
We look forward to seeing all of you enjoying the blazing colors of our fall gardens.
